Education and Work History

With 17 years of experience in the mental health field, Raissa brings a unique and highly specialized perspective to her practice. She earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in 2009 and holds the designation of National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Raissa’s clinical background is rooted in the deep connection between the brain and behavior. Her early training included work in the child and adolescent psychiatric department at Monmouth Medical Center. Before transitioning into full-time private practice, Raissa served as a Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapist for Bancroft NeuroRehab. There, she developed specialized programs for individuals with acquired brain injuries, focusing on behavior management, emotion regulation, and cognitive remediation.

In 2018, Raissa transitioned into private practice to focus on her passion for relational and individual counseling. Over the last eight years, she has worked extensively with college students, young adults, and professionals, helping them navigate the complexities of anxiety, depression, and high-pressure life transitions. Having spent nearly a decade in a private practice setting, Raissa has a deep understanding of the unique stressors her clients face—from the academic pressures of campus life to the "mental load" of career and family in middle age.

Raissa is committed to helping you understand the patterns that keep you stuck, offering the insight and tools gained from nearly two decades of clinical work to help you feel more in control and confident in your future.

Clinical Focus:

Do you find yourself constantly overthinking, emotionally drained, anxious, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to break?

Maybe you are struggling to keep up with school, work, relationships, or the pressure of trying to hold everything together while feeling overwhelmed underneath it all. Therapy can help you better understand yourself, feel more in control of your emotions, and create healthier, more fulfilling patterns in your life.

With 17 years of experience, I specialize in working with college students, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, perfectionism, stress, and uncertainty about the future. Whether you are struggling with burnout, overthinking, people-pleasing, communication difficulties, or feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can help you better understand what is happening and create meaningful change.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs and personality. Together, we can work on managing anxiety, building healthier coping skills, improving communication, increasing self-confidence, and creating more balance in your life and relationships.

Over time, therapy can help you feel more grounded, emotionally aware, confident in your decisions, and more in control of how you respond to stress and challenges. Many clients begin to feel less overwhelmed, more connected in their relationships, clearer about what they want, and better able to set boundaries, manage emotions, and navigate life with greater confidence and self-understanding.

I believe therapy should feel supportive, honest, and comfortable—not judgmental or one-sided. Building a trusting relationship is an important part of the process, and I prioritize creating a space where clients feel understood, challenged when needed, and able to move at a pace that feels right for them. I encourage open communication so therapy feels genuinely helpful and aligned with your goals.

I understand that life can feel busy and demanding. I offer both online and in-person sessions during the workday, making therapy more accessible for students between classes or professionals during a lunch break.
